Murugappa Raising Talent Sports Scholarship
It was launched in collaboration with GoSports Foundation. The initiative aims to nurture young athletes and empower coaches from southern India, focusing on sports like badminton, tennis, and para-athletics. The program’s goal is to bring systemic change to the sports sector in the region by providing comprehensive support to the selected individuals.
The first batch includes 10 sports scholars and two coaches. The scholarship program includes mentorship sessions, strength training, workshops, equipment and apparel, sports nutrition, mental conditioning, and logistics.
The program aims to prepare athletes for the international stage and ensure they have the necessary support to excel.

Surla Naveen
Event: 400m and 1500m
Classification: T-12 (Vision impairment)
Starting his journey as a promising cricket and Kho-Kho player, Naveen was introduced to athletics when he was observed by athletics coaches under the ‘Eenadu’ project and was sent to Palasa for further training. After training there for three months Naveen managed to grab the attention as a middle distance runner by claiming gold medal in 400 meters and silver medal in 1500 meters at the para-national meet held in Goa in 2024.Mantra Lokesh

Classification: T-42 (Limb deficency)
Mantra’s sporting career began by competing in the sport of Kabbadi where his vertical jump and explosion was identified by the Eenadu coaches and he was recommended to try high jump. Since then Mantra has made a promising name for himself in high jump by winning two silver medals in sub-junior and junior nationals held in Gujurat in 2023 and aspires to continue his growth furtherSanjay Reddy
Event: Discus Throw
Classification: F-11 (Vision impairment)
Sanjay started his discus journey back in 2018 and has been up there as a medal winner in multiple events and competitions. He recently secured a silver medal in the 22nd National Para-Athletics championships held in Goa in 2024 and also has a bronze medal to his name by winning the Asian Youth championships held in Bahrain in 2021. His long term goal remains to improve his distances and qualify for the 2026 Commonwealth Games and Asian GamesPranav Desai
Event: 100m and 200m
Classification: T-64 (limb deficency)
Pranav was introduced to blade running in 2016 in a clinic in Mumbai when a German Paralympian Heinrich Popow taught him how to walk and run on the blade. Since then, the athlete has been fascinated with blade running and has managed to win gold both at domestic and international competitions. He recently finished 4th in the 100 and 200m events in the 2023 Asian games and dreams to win a medal at the next Asian and Paralympic gamesHarshita Tater

Classification: T-37 (Co-ordination impairments)
Harshita’s entrance in athletics happened in 2022 when she grabbed the headlines and secured gold medals in both 200m and 400m events at national para-athletics championships. Her winning streak continued at the inaugural Khelo India paragames as well as she claimed a bronze medal in the 200m event in her category. Event: Men’s Singles
Lokesh’s love for Badminton started as an 8- year-old when he was first made acquainted to the sport of Badminton by his mother. This acquaintance then gradually led to a professional setting in 2016 when he decided to take the professional path and won his first All India doubles ranking tournament in 2017. Despite setbacks and injuries along the way Lokesh remains determined as ever to continue winning more medals domestically and globally and recently finished as a runner-up in the All India Senior Ranking Badminton tournament held in 2024.Hariharan A

Hariharan’s started playing Badminton at the age of 12 alongside his sister and continued to climb the ranks as a singles player until 2016 when he was introduced to Ruban at a district ranking tournament and has partnered him ever since. In these eight years journey both the players have managed to win domestic and international tournaments and the latest one being the Infosys Foundation India International Challenge which was held in 2023. Grew up idolizing his brother who himself was a Badminton player, Ruban like his doubles partner Hari began his journey as a singles player and then made that jump in 2016 when he met Hari and partnered him at a district ranking tournament. Since then both the players have gone from strength to strength in their journeys and have set a common goal to qualify for Asian games 2026 and LA Paralympics 2028Pruthvi Roy

Hailing from Shimoga in Karnataka, Pruthvi started his professional career at the age of 10 as a singles player until recently where he made that switch as a doubles player and recently became the national champion in the men’s doubles event in 2024. Additionally, he also won two gold medals at the senior Badminton ranking tournaments held in Bareilly and Haryana in 2023. His long term goal remains to qualify for Asian games 2026 and LA Olympics 2028.Rethin Kumar
Event: Men’s Singles and Doubles
Starting his Tennis journey at the tender age of 6.5 years, Rethin has continued to climb the ladder in terms of progression and growth as he has managed to win multiple accolades which includes six national titles, three gold medals. In addition to that, he also holds the distinguished record of being number 1 player across all age categories from U-12 onwards till U-18 as per AITA rankings. His short-term goal remains to feature in the Junior Grand slams and his long-term goal is to be a top ranked ATP player in Singles with a target to represent India in Davis Cup and Olympics
