Murugappa Youth Football Academy
The Murugappa Youth Football Academy is functioning at 4 grounds and catering to 600 boys at Vellayan Chettiar Higher Secondary School, Sir Ramaswami Mudaliyar Higher Secondary School, TI School and the Murugappa Sports Centre, Avadi. Students are enrolled every year through a rigorous selection process wherein they are assessed for their aptitude and potential.
The Murugappa Youth Football Academy is now accredited with the ALL INDIA FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION (AIFF). Right now, MYFA is part of the Youth League 2025 edition.
Partnership with a German Football club – Borussia Dortmund BVB is a major milestone for MYFA.
The coaches of MYFA are seasoned players who not only played at the National level but also hold accredited coaching licenses from the AFC. The coaches are guided and mentored by international football technical consultants.

- One Full sized FIFA certified artificial turf, One Full sized mud ground and two smaller well-formed football grounds, along with multiple moveable goal post is the basic Infrastructure.
- The academy is also equipped with modern training equipment, Ground maintenance tools including a 3 ton vibrator roller.
- Moreover, each player gets to train with a separate football.
The children are provided with a complete Football kit – Jersey, Shorts, Boots, Shin-guard, Stockings and running shoes. At the end of each coaching session, they are provided with protein rich nutrition supplements.
Inculcating self-discipline is one of the primary objectives of the Academy; students will be monitored for grooming, language, punctuality, team work, responsibility, respect for self, peers and elders.
Players also undergo a series of training sessions by external experts on football coaching, health and hygiene, nutrition, playing ethics, motivation, team spirit and other soft skills.
As a first step, MYFA aspires to create a database of existing like-minded football academies and network with them. Conduct friendly matches with the teams from these academies (both home and away). Also learn from their experience. Such interactions and matches with outside academies will facilitate MYFA students to understand and practice fair play. The focus for MYFA will always be - “It is not the result but how you play the game that is important.”
