History
Originally known as AMM Charities Trust in 1953, in order to give expression to the noble ideas of their late father, Dewan Bahadur AM Murugappa Chettiar, his three sons, AMM Murugappa Chettiar, AMM Vellayan Chettiar and AMM Arunachalam formed the AMM Charities Trust with a vision that extended well beyond the realms of commerce and ensured the welfare of the community.
According to their priorities, it was always people before products, rendering services before profits and community welfare before commercial success. In the best tradition of the Nagarathars, they set apart a substantial portion of their wealth in the cause of education and healthcare to the society. That was the beginning of AMM Charities Trust, which, in later years, paved the way for the AMM Foundation.
