Swot Analysis

Keeping in mind the growth of the organization, a SWOT analysis was conducted with the support of the parents of class VI on 30th June 2019 in A.V.Hall from 10.00 A.M. to 12.30 P.M. under the guidance of the Principal Mr. Senthil Kumar. The session was coordinated by Mrs. Sreelatha Jayarajan. Vice Principal, Mrs. K.Chitra and Mrs. Krishnaveni were the other team members.

The purpose and objective of the workshop was briefed to the parents and the session threw light on the vision and mission of the school. A small ice-breaking session was conducted to highlight the strengths of their child and areas of improvement in their child's development.

What is SWOT all about was diagrammatically explained by the Principal. Parents listed out the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats.

The programme came to a close at 12.30 with high tea. The parents were assured that the school will get back to them with an action plan. Overall, the session was a very productive and valuable one in terms of implementation.

Workshop on Continuing Professional Development

Continuing professional development workshop for teachers by British Council was held on 28/6/2019 from 10 a.m. - 2.00 p.m. at MMA CENTRE (Thousand Lights) Mrs. Sreelatha Jayarajan participated.

Session I was developed and delivered by British council trainer Ms. Priyanka. The Session started with an activity which helped us to know the participants. The module provided a basic overview of 21st century skills and aimed to introduce the six core skill.

Each point mentioned above were discussed in groups for deeper understanding and the existing practices in different schools on these lines were shared. The session concluded by summing up the take home learning practices. Participants received Participation Certificates at the end. Hospitality was exemplary. Session motivated each one to move towards 21st century skills.

Workshop on Teaching Mathematics with manipulative

Mrs.K.Vijayalakshmi and Mrs. M Usha attended a Math workshop on "Teaching Mathematics with manipulative." At Hotel Regenta Central Deccan, Chennai on 14th and 15th June 2019.

After a detailed discussion, we were given a hands on experience on how to use Math kits in order to help the children visualize the concepts they learn. A few Math games were taught which can be used as attention grabbers to keep them engaged in class. Most of the activities are part of the system in practice.

Learning Outcome

Through these activities, Mathematics can be learnt in a joyful way. Children can improve their reasoning and thinking skills. This workshop not only enhanced teaching skills but also inspired us to help children explore math.

Leading and Managing Change

"Leading and Managing change" is a continuing Professional Development workshop for School leaders designed by The British Council. Mrs. Mary Bennette participated in the workshop which was held at Hotel Raintree on 21st June 2019 from 10am to 5pm. The resource person was Ms.Manisha Dak.

The learning outcomes of the programme were:

  • Understanding the significance of change in the 21st century
  • Understanding how to manage resistance to and fear of change
  • Knowing about models for leading change to improve outcomes
  • Being able to consider tools and techniques for implementing change
  • Being able to identify how to approach a change project in school

The above learning outcomes were achieved through activity, group discussion and sharing. The programme was really a productive one.

Leading and Managing Change

Conference on Artificial Intelligence

A Conference on Artificial Intelligence was conducted on 21st June 2019 at Taj Club House. The workshop was attended by Mr. D. Senthil kumar, Principal and Mrs. Meera Gopi Section head – Primary. The workshop was a half day session which was scheduled in the afternoon with key note address on what artificial intelligence is and the need to include the same as part of curriculum.

The Guest Speakers were:

1. Dr. Sanjay Malaviya, Founder The Future Foundation

2. Dr. M.M. Pant, IIT Kanpur.

The discussion evolved around the following:

  • Change is permanent
  • Education has not changed in the same pace as other areas
  • What the school needs to do to meet the challenges of the ever changing world (4th industrial age)
  • Artificial intelligence (the ability to distinguish, classify and recommend)
  • Machine learning (ability to see patterns based on previous experience)
  • Deep learning (use of neural network)
