The camp started at 6.10am with the children being milk and fruit to provide them energy for the fun packed day ahead.

After the sports session, children enjoyed their breakfast which got them up and ready for the Personality Development session.

Mrs. Pankajam from SRM anchored the PD session. The topic was ‘Social responsibility’. It was apt for the day since April 22nd is celebrated as ‘Earth Day’.

“The earth does not belong to us, we belong to the earth.”

The children were asked to pen down their thoughts on what social responsibility means and why should they be socially responsible.

It was great to see children come out with variety of topics/ issues which need to be addressed on a war-footing basis like :

  • Air pollution
  • Rain water harvesting
  • Afforestation
  • Water Scarcity – measures to avoid the same

Followed by that activity was a demo session anchored by SRM girls aboutmaking seed balls.

Seed Balls – an ancient technique for propagating plants from seeds without opening up soil with cultivation tools such as a plow. The balls were made using cow dung, natural fertilizer, clay and seeds like puvarasu, neem and tamarind. A print out on how to make the balls was also distributed to all students.

Mrs. Pankajam made it interesting at the end of the camp by announcing that the student who makes the most number of balls and distributes it to the neighborhood while in the process also educating them about its benefits will win a prize.

The session ended with the screening of video clips on the importance of planting trees.

On the whole, the session had a good message for the students

Summer Sports camp 2016-17 was inaugurated on the 21st of April 2017 at SRM School by our beloved Secretary AMMF Mr. A. Rajagopal and by
Mr. N. Rajasekaran, Correspondent & Secretary, SRMHSS and VCHSS.

The camp started at 6.10am with the children being milk and fruit to provide them energy for the fun packed day ahead.

The programme then commenced with an inspiring welcome note by Mr. N. Rajasekaran, who addressed the children about the importance of staying fit physically and mentally, followed by a motivational talk by Mr. A. Rajagopal on the benefits of keeping fit.

Later, T-shirts were distributed to all students and the camp started with physical fitness, followed by Football for boys and Ball Badminton for girls.

After the sports session, children enjoyed their breakfast which got them up and ready for the Personality Development session.

Mrs. Radha Ganesh and Mrs. Mary Bennett anchored the PD session. The topic was ‘Believe in yourself”.

Follow your dreams, believe in yourself and don’t give up !

The children showed immense levels of enthusiasm and involvement in the activities and a few video clips were also screened. It was good to see that the take home value “Believe in you” reached children which was analyzed by the way they answered the questions thrown to them by our anchors when the session came to an end.
