Republic Day Celebration
With freedom in the mind, strength in the words, pureness in our blood, pride in our souls and zeal in our hearts, we at T.I. School saluted the Indian flag on the 72nd Republic Day. This pandemic was a challenging one. In spite of such challenges, we managed to function in a way what we call the 'new normal.' On this bright occasion we were privileged to have Mr. Narayanan Hariharan Chief Executive, AMM Foundation as the Chief Guest for the day. We also had a special invitee Dr. S. Venkatraman amidst us. He is a senior consultant to various UNESCO offices. He is also recently appointed as an advisory member of the WHO.
Our Chief Guest unfurled the National flag and delivered his Republic Day message. He conveyed the essence of freedom by narrating his own experience of being a victim of Covid-19. While he narrated the way he was quarantined, he mentioned the various difficulties he faced and that was when he realised the importance of freedom. He spoke about how fortunate we are to live in an independent and democratic country like India. He also talked about the freedom to use technology in recent days to continue learning and acquiring knowledge. He concluded by saying that we have to be more vigilant, adaptive, innovative and resilient which is the need of the hour.
Dr. Venkat said that this gathering gave a new hope that things would get better as we moved on. He emphasized on the hardships faced by the migrant workers and their children especially during this pandemic and exclaimed how fortunate we were. He also talked about the importance of teachers in this society, especially now and also said that they had to be given equal importance and care like the frontline workers. Finally, he wanted us to enjoy the freedom, but at the same time, fight for justice, equality and right to education. He also insisted that giving back to society was equally important.
Patriotic songs were sung in praise of our motherland. A classical dance by one of our friends was a visual treat. We had yet another event which took place on the same day. It was the Investiture ceremony. The elected members of the school senior council took up their responsibilities with determination, honour and pride.
Dr. Venkat had an interaction with the teaching community post the program. He spoke about his experiences and the safety protocol to be followed during the pandemic. He also answered the various questions raised by the staff.
