Trip to Crocodile Bank

Nature club members of class 8 visited Crocodile bank on 8.3.17 with Ms. Vandana, Ms. Rama, Ms. Reeba and Mr. Karuna to gain wide knowledge on the life of reptiles. The management of our school provided a guided tour (free of cost) for our students to learn more on reptilian life. Mr. Arul, a volunteer from Croc Bank interacted with children and gave a lot of information on morphology, behavior, diet, nesting of crocodiles, alligators and gharials. Our students were amazed to know that crocodile can go without food and water even for a year. He also focused on the importance on the need for conservation of crocodile and how croc bank facilitate the breeding program to ensure the population of crocodile in the wild remains undisturbed. We also got an opportunity to see the extraction of venom from the poisonous snakes of India.

Turtle Walk

Nature club members of class 8 and 9 went on a turtle walk to Nelangari on 11.03.17. Turtle walk was organized through Tree Foundation. 57 students with 10 teachers got an opportunity to see Olive riddle hatchlings release from hatchery to the sea. Heart of Heart we wished the tiny hatchlings a safe journey and safe return in their adulthood to the place where they were born to lay their eggs. We also walked for 2 hours along the cost hoping to see an adult one which might come to lay their eggs. Unfortunately we couldn’t spot one. With a happy note of seeing the tiny hatchling we returned to school by 2.00 am on (14.03.17). All Members of Nature club were also thrilled to have a night stay in school.
