Vanmahotsav Week Celebration (July 1-6)

Primary coordinator Mrs. Bhuvaneswari and Mrs. Nanthini were given responsibility to carry out the weeklong celebration. We planned activities for Primary as well as Secondary level with the Eco club leaders. Primary side activities were carried out by Mrs. Bhuvaneswari with the help of class teachers. Class V-IX activities were carried out by Mrs. Nanthini, Ms. Monica and Eco club volunteers.

The green ambassadors initiated the programme.

Vana mahotsav week was celebrated in the Primary block ( classes L.K.G to IV) from July 1st to July 6th. In order to create awareness and make the students understand the importance of trees, their uses, several activities were conducted throughout the week. The activities were conducted class wise.

L.K.G to class IV were asked to bring plant saplings. The saplings were planted in the school garden on Monday July 1st.

The students watered the saplings they had planted throughout the week during their lunch break.

The seeds were also sown by L.K.G, MGML and class II students in the school garden and III and IV had sown it in the class room.

Our correspondent ma'am also took part in the planting of the sapling along with the children.

Students were asked to bring panakam on monday, fruit juice on Tuesday, watermelon Wednesday, mint lemonade on thursday, fresh veg salad Friday for their lunch and snack break. This was done to create awareness among children about the healthy foods we get from plants.

Environment related songs were taught during the rhapsody period(Eurhythmy) from KG to class II.

Class III did a collage on effects of deforestation.

Class IV students were made to prepare for oratorical competition on the topic " Plants, our green friends". This topic will be further extended to world population day celebration and the finals will be conducted on the same as a part of co-curricular oratorical competition scheduled for this year. Class IV students made a badge on save trees and made posters on saving trees.

Vanmahotsav Week Celebration (July 1-6)

Drawing competition was conducted on the topic " Save Trees" for classes II to IV. The leftover food waste was collected in the waste sorting bin, which will be added to the compost pit.

The Green Ambassadors of our school decided on the competitions for classes 5 to 9. They also processed the selection of winners for each competition to motivate the students.

Class5 and 6 did poster making on "Water Conservation at their level ". Charts were provided by the school and students procured their own drawing materials. It was conducted on Wednesday (3-7-19) and class7 did 'Art Out of Waste.' Art sir Mr. Subramanian selected the best two from each of the classes 5 and 6 Art out of Waste by class7 students

Class 8 enacted a street play on Friday (6-7-19) to create awareness among students on the need to conserve all the five elements of nature (Earth, air, water, sky and fire) . Students also took a promise to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. The play was thoroughly enjoyed by students and teachers.

Class9 students were asked to present drawing of the model on "The best feasible rain water harvesting methods "as it is the need of the hour on Thursday (5-7-19). The work of the children was judged by MS .Girija and she selected the best two presentations.

Sharan of class IX spoke on Vanamahothsav day and its importance and the need to conserve trees to prevent Global warming and to have bountiful rains.

In order to create awareness about the importance of trees, among parents Vrikshabandan (Rakhi) with values and quotes was tied around the trees by the parents.

The Vana mahotsav week celebration was thoroughly enjoyed by the students and the teachers. The children were able to speak on the importance of trees and the role played by the trees in our day to day life.
