Report on State Level Technical Project Competition & Exhibition

A state level technical project competition & exhibition for Diploma Engineering students “CREATE 2017” was conducted on 17th & 18th February 2017 at Murugappa Polytechnic College. The competition is sponsored by ISTE Tamilnadu & Puducherry Section and Co-Sponsored by M/S Classic Moulds & Dies and First Batch TDM Students of MPC (1996-99). Students exhibited their talents by fabricating and demonstrating their projects. The Competition brought together students from various polytechnic colleges across the state for sharing of knowledge in the emerging trends related to core branches of Engineering.

Students projects were evaluated by a team of jury consisting of an Industrial expert and an academician. The projects were evaluated considering their new ideas, innovation, and execution of the ideas, working of the projects, their involvement and the student’s presentation skills.

Students from all departments and years visited the exhibit of the projects after competition. It gave them new ideas, improvement in knowledge & skills, confidence in shaping their ideas. Around 1000 school students from Classes 8th & 9th also visited the exhibition. School students found the exhibition more interesting and innovative. They also got motivated to choose engineering as their career.

The best projects were awarded with Cash prizes, shields and certificates. A sum of Rs. 5,000/- as First Prize, Rs. 3,000/- as Second Prize and Rs. 2,000/- as Third Prize was awarded to the winners stream wise. Chief Guest for the Prize distribution function Dr. P.Iyamperumal, Executive Director, Tamilnadu Science & Technology Centre, (Estd. by Govt. of Tamilnadu), Chennai – 600 025 distributed the cash prizes, Medals and Certificate to the winners of the competition. The Chief Guest also briefed about the governments schemes to promote entrepreneurship, inculcating science & technology in young minds and appreciated the student’s projects. Principal Dr. K.Sudhagar presided over the function and wished the participants and offered suggestions to the participants for their betterment.

The general feedback obtained from the participants, visitors, juries and department coordinators are encouraging.
